Jungian therapy is a psychotherapy that explores the historical causes of our psychological problems. It is also talk therapy that encourages us to look into our own SELVES and not to the one we present to the world, but the one that is only out there when we know nobody is watching us. Jung came up with the introvert, extrovert ideas and the lie detector.
Jung worked with Freud, so dreams, word association, art and dance therapies are important because they are expressions of who we are and are connected to our childhood, traumas and emotions. The goal is to understand what the problem is and solve it. Jungian therapy tries to find the source of the problem and is not really worried about the symptoms. Jung believed that repressed experiences, and memories with the collective unconscious or beliefs from our society are detrimental to our emotional state. So, we need to confront our biases and beliefs because just relieving the symptom won't cure the disease/problem. For Jung, we need to go through stages: confession, elucidation, education and transformation. By analyzing our problems through those stages, we can transform ourselves and have a profound change in who we are.
Sometimes, a therapist will ask us to have a journal, to interpret our dreams, to draw or to paint to express our feelings and thoughts. Jungian therapy helps us with self-awareness, gaining a deeper understanding of ourselves, with our relationships and by looking into our unconscious mind. Jungian therapy focuses on our inner world and not on others. So, if you want to know more, feel free to do your research. I hope you find what helps you.
I love you and thank you.
