Freud is the most famous therapist out there because he created psychoanalysis, which is just talk therapy (the most common therapy). The therapy tries to explain how our experiences from our childhood influence our thoughts, emotions and life in the present state. Freud believed the unconscious controlled our lives, that is why dreams and aspirations are also important. We need to deal with whatever is in our minds. There is an exercise called free association that is usually when we share our thoughts freely, no judgement, just let it all out. From there, we can find the memories and connections to our lives, problems, childhood, trauma, etc.

The therapy recognizes recurring themes, emotions, and patterns making us go back into our memory like regression to understand ourselves. The goal is to work through the problems/issues/challenges/emotions, etc once we remember where and how they all started. Freud believed we can heal what we can remember, so talking about our issues and emotions would help us remember our traumas, and heal them.

I have done psychoanalysis for a long time. I go back and forth to therapy whenever I need to understand myself, a challenge I am facing, a moment in my life, or whenever I feel that I need a safe place just to talk, to express my whole mnd, thoughts and self. We all have friends and family, but we cannot tell everyone everything that is in our minds. We cannot tell our dreams and aspirations to everyone because some people will think we are crazy, others will add fear to our life, others will make us doubt ourselves. In good faith, they are all trying to help their own way, but what we really need is our OWN HELP. We need to believe and fight for us our own way. People will overreact if you say everything, and we will hurt others if we express everything out loud. So, as we don't want to be hurt by others, we have no right to hurt others either. We need a safe place to express everything and to let our anger, thoughts, emotions, ideas out of our minds. That is why we need therapy. During therapy, we can work through problems, feelings, or whatever someone did that triggered a reaction on us, our plans, etc.

Therapy makes us calmer and makes us understand what we need to work on in order to become a better version of ourselves. You can trust a friend, but please trust yourself first. Go find what helps you! It is out there!

I love you and thank you! #WhyMeAndWhyNotMe

A poem for you below!

You

Sinélia Peixoto

Every day I feel you out there

I have no idea what this is within me

I know you are there somewhere

I feel it, I smell it, I see it, I know it, it's there.

What is it I feel inside of me?

That all the time makes me think of you

It may be love, is it really what I see?

I just know I know not what to do.

To live, to love, to love, to live

Does it always have to be like that?

What else would I have to give?

It's you and me, it's all a chat.

My heart knows what love is

And that may be all that this is.
